Turn On To America is an all-volunteer charity, feeding and housing low-income families for over 40 years. Wholesome food is gathered, boxed and delivered anonymously in impoverished areas of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Proceeds from this event will provide 1500 families with food boxes containing all the fixings, including turkeys and hams, for an abundant holiday meal. We estimate that $29 covers the cost of a full box.

10 September 2011 - Sweet! A Celebration to benefit the Friends of Oakland Animal Shelter

7pm - 10pm. Help us celebrate the work of the staff and 150 volunteers of Oakland Animal Services who rescue close to 7,000 animals each year. Proceeds will support much-needed medical treatment, supplies, and quality-of-life improvements for shelter animals.

Christina Loren, from NBC's Today in the Bay, will be our emcee for this evening of Funky groove-oriented jazz and latin sounds by BIG Ken's Trio. 5 August 2011 - James Swinson, Oakland artist and musician

6pm - 10pm, James Swinson's solo exhibition Raw Garage draws on a wide range of influences, from 50's early abstraction to 80's neo-expressionism and beyond. Integrating materials, fabrics, photo transfers, collage and random found objects directly from the sidewalks and the streets of urban and city life, it is contemporary art with a slant toward the avant-garde underground spirit.

His band Rockinghorse will perform opening night Friday, August 5th from 8pm-9:30pm.

22 January 2011 - An evening in support of Haitian Street Kids, Inc. (HSKI)

Saturday at 6pm, an evening in support of Haitian street kids. The night will be a fun mix of food, wine and entertainment. Raffles and silent auction will be held and 100% of the proceeds raised will go to benefit the children of Haiti.

HSKI does whatever it takes to protect Haitian children, currently helping some 3,000 street kids and (escaped) restavek slaves, and working to provide shelter for abou t200 others. Free Event
6pm - 9pm, an art show featuring giant reproductions of pinball art will adorn the brick walls of Uptown Body & Fender, an ideal place to display and view the colorful visions of muralists Ed Cassel, Dan Fontes and Eric J. Kos, their selections of some of the finest works of pinball designers revisioned as paintings that embody the artistry that went into the original design. Cassel, Fontes and Kos present their works in association with the Pacific Pinball Museum of Alameda, CA, which will install a limited number of games set to free play for the opening and reception on July 16.
